Pool: 8 Ball Mania is an online sport game that features pocket billiards. The player's goal is to hit, or pot, their balls into a pool table's pockets before their opponent.
The game allows two friends or other players to play against each other by simply selecting the two-player button and then swapping the phone or other device back and forth between them. It prompts a player to take their turn by sliding a vertical collection track from the left or right side of the screen. The players decide the side they want to play on. Single-player ball collection is similar, but the player always collects balls on the left side and waits to take turns with the computer.
As with offline eight-ball pool, the player plays solids or stripes, as decided by the first ball either player hits into a pocket. They must remove all their balls from the green baize without allowing the black eight ball to roll and drop into a pocket before they finish their task.
The player uses a pool stick to strike a white cue ball directly or at an angle that results in it hitting one of their balls. When they succeed at dropping a correct ball into a pocket, they continue until a shot misses, and then their opponent takes a turn.
Pool: 8 Ball Mania also provides an aiming line that features a targeting ball at the end with two estimated angle lines. The player uses this tool to estimate where one of their balls will go after the cue ball hits it.
That said, the player can only use the line before they start to pull back the stick. Once they start that action, the game locks in the angle of the shot.
